Character

Name: Anti Black Coat
Source: Kingdom Hearts (AU)
Type: Reaper
Canon Point: Post-3D
History: Once upon a time, there was a very special boy named Sora. And he had a very special heart and very special dreams. You see, certain dreams were about himself and two people very close to him and they happened so often that the Nightmare Dream Eaters spawned from them could only really take one form: the trio themselves. Now, Dream Eaters are special creatures. They are born from mixtures of dreams, and they come in two kinds. Spirits, which eat bad dreams, and Nightmares, which eat good dreams.

The Kairi Nightmare was born from bad dreams of her going away, of failing to save her, or her hating Sora. The Riku Nightmare (Anti Black Coat) was born out of the bad dreams of him being consumed by darkness, of the terrible things Riku had done, or leaving the two behind. The Sora Nightmare was born of the bad dreams of losing himself, of the potential for darkness he had, of becoming a vessel for Xehanort.

The three came together and formed a group, working together to hunt down dreams for their own meals. They gained strength this way, and were, for awhile, content to live this way. They could freely explore the worlds of Sora’s dreams, turning them to nightmares with easy. However, all too soon this became monotonous and they grew bored. They wanted more.

They got their chance.

It was an accident. Anti Black Coat, upon sensing a nearing Spirit that happened to be powerful, immediately went on the defense for his friends. He came face to face with Riku, and he fought—inadvertently discovering a way out. It was as he was beginning to lose to his look-alike that he realized—and immediately fled back into Sora’s dreams, allowing Riku passage to the real world. Meanwhile, the Nightmare trio fled from Sora’s dreams, freeing him from the grips of nightmares.

They traveled the realm of sleep, unaware of the resolution to the battle. They didn’t care, after all—they had their freedom. But it came at a price. Three powerful Nightmares functioning as a unit began to greatly affect the Realm of Sleep. Many Spirits were devoured as they traveled, seeking new adventures. Eventually, Sora, Riku and Kairi were called in. The two groups clashed, each one taking on their counterpart.

The island trio proved too much for the Nightmares, and they were all eventually dispatched. As they faded, they reached for each other one last time.
Personality: Anti Black Coat (ABC from this point forward) is a Nightmare. He is thus predatory in nature. He will hunt and think in almost animalistic patterns. However, that doesn’t make him mindless. On the contrary—the battle against him proves the direct opposite. He is incredibly fast, teleports often, and attacks ruthlessly from a distance AND close-ranged. Which is another point: he doesn’t understand the concept of mercy. As a Dream Eater, his world is very much eat or be eaten—literally.

That doesn’t mean he’s without his positive traits. He is loyal to a fault when it comes to his friends, though there are currently only two. It is his loyalty, after all, that had him facing down Riku initially. He is also incredibly truthful, though this goes to the extreme of being incredibly blunt. His main reason is that, as he perceives things, the truth is often more terrible and fun than a lie.

He is a bit of a sadist, drawing joy from the pain of those he doesn’t call friends—hey, it means he and his friends aren’t the ones suffering, after all, so why not enjoy it? And beyond that, he’s based on nightmares of Riku. He has a large capacity for cruelty, and doesn’t practice mercy most of the time. There’s no reason to as mercy is a quick way to die as a Nightmare.

He is also a Nightmare through and through. Dreams are his prey, and he wants to eat them—to the point that he doesn’t want to STOP eating. He doesn’t understand the concept of not being greedy in this aspect—he’s gluttonous, even though he easily consumes enough to keep going. This is ultimately the main trait that caused his problems with the Destiny Trio and his eventual downfall.

The way he treats other people falls into two categories. Either you’re prey or you’re not. He is ruthless and aggressive toward what he perceives as prey. If he is neutral toward someone, though, he’ll just generally act like a douche to them. How he divides them is quite simple. Basically, if you have what he deems Nightmare-like qualities, you’re on neutral ground. Spirit-like qualities? Watch your back.

Which brings us to another thing. He views everything in terms of Nightmare or Spirit. It’s how he’s had to divide the world since his “birth.” So it carries over to everything else he does and his interactions with anyone would be defined by this view. This black-and-white mentality will be hard to work past, and he’s stubborn on top of that.

As a final point on his personality, given his point in the AU, he will be very angry and emotional—prone to lashing out and hurting others to dull his own pain, as he’s lost the only two people he cared about. They are, after all, gone and he’d be around and would probably hurt those around him. Especially those who have friends there.
Abilities: Dream Eating: Probably a no-brainer, but he is a Dream Eater. Specifically, a Nightmare. This means that he has the ability to devour good dreams, and in fact this is how he eats. Bad dreams are left in the wake of devoured dreams.

Teleportation: An ability he uses often in battle, ABC is rarely in one place for long. He teleports freely around the arena, with no warnings as to when he will or where he’ll end up.

Floating: He rarely just walks anywhere. He’ll hover, just off the ground, and float there instead unless he uses the above ability and teleports.

Weapon Summoning: He only has a weapon in hand when attacking physically. It appears at the beginning of an attack, and disappears at the end. He is only seen using a sword. Occasionally, there will be darkness used to enhance the blade’s reach or damage, but this is highly visible and easily dodged.

Leech Trap: One attack will be sent along the floor and capture the enemy, lifting him into the air. HP balls will be ripped from them, leaving them at 1HP—always. Not able to be used as a finished unless target is already at 1HP.

Bottomless Pit: From a distance, he will create a pool under the target and the red and black darkness will arc upward from said pool at four spots around the target to cause damage.

Toxic Shot: Purple energy bullets are fired and home in on the target. Easily dodged, though. Inflicts a poison status ailment.

Cross-bind: A red-and-black darkness X is sent at the target, and will wrap around them if it connects, causing damage.

Note: attacks names are of fan creation as there are no official names, nor even a list of his attacks. All attacks are described as perceived from playing the game and videos.
