Character: Anti Black Coat
Fandom: Kingdom Hearts
Personality: While much isn’t seen in canon, one can draw a few conclusions about him from his behavior and typical race characteristics. Anti Black Coat (ABC from this point forward) is a Nightmare. He is thus predatory in nature. He will hunt and think in almost animalistic patterns. However, that doesn’t make him mindless. On the contrary—the battle against him proves the direct opposite. He is incredibly fast, teleports often, and attacks ruthlessly from a distance AND close-ranged. Which is another point: he doesn’t understand the concept of mercy. As a Dream Eater, his world is very much eat or be eaten—literally.

He is a bit of a sadist, drawing joy from the pain of those he doesn’t call friends—hey, it means he isn’t the ones suffering, after all, so why not enjoy it? And beyond that, he’s based on nightmares of Riku. He has a large capacity for cruelty, and doesn’t practice mercy most of the time. There’s no reason to as mercy is a quick way to die as a Nightmare.

He is also a Nightmare through and through. Dreams are his prey, and he wants to eat them—to the point that he doesn’t want to STOP eating. He doesn’t understand the concept of not being greedy in this aspect—he’s gluttonous, even though he easily consumes enough to keep going.

The way he treats other people falls into two categories. Either you’re prey or you’re not. He is ruthless and aggressive toward what he perceives as prey. If he is neutral toward someone, though, he’ll just generally act like a douche to them. How he divides them is quite simple. Basically, if you have what he deems Nightmare-like qualities, you’re on neutral ground. Spirit-like qualities? Watch your back.

Which brings us to another thing. He views everything in terms of Nightmare or Spirit. It’s how he’s had to divide the world since his “birth.” So it carries over to everything else he does and his interactions with anyone would be defined by this view. This black-and-white mentality will be hard to work past, and he’s stubborn on top of that.

Another trait of his is that he is… Largely possessive. He is met when Riku approaches Sora, after all, and he attacks in order to keep what he sees as his. Which, in the case given, is Sora and his dreams—a source of food that is only useful when asleep.
History: Here is the wiki article! But I’ll probably have to go a bit more in-depth. Well, as in-depth as I can.

He has a very short history in canon. And by short I mean short. He is born not too long before he is met, born from the nightmares Sora has—brought on by Young Xehanort poking at Sora’s own inner darkness. When Riku finds Sora, there is darkness swirling passively around him. When Riku takes Sora’s hand and attempts to wake him, it reacts, growing stronger before streaming off and manifesting as Anti Black Coat. He stands for a moment, listening to Riku, before the Nightmare symbol emblazons itself upon the back of his coat. Then, a brutal fight breaks out and he gives Riku little chance to attack. In the end, however, he is still defeated and melts away, freeing both Riku and Sora.

…Yeah, that’s unfortunately about it.
Timeline: Just before he dies, as he’s falling.
Abilities: Dream Eating: Probably a no-brainer, but he is a Dream Eater. Specifically, a Nightmare. This means that he has the ability to devour good dreams, and in fact this is how he eats. Bad dreams are left in the wake of devoured dreams.

Teleportation: An ability he uses often in battle, ABC is rarely in one place for long. He teleports freely around the arena, with no warnings as to when he will or where he’ll end up.

Floating: He rarely just walks anywhere. He’ll hover, just off the ground, and float there instead unless he uses the above ability and teleports.

Weapon Summoning: He only has a weapon in hand when attacking physically. It appears at the beginning of an attack, and disappears at the end. He is only seen using a sword. Occasionally, there will be darkness used to enhance the blade’s reach or damage, but this is highly visible and easily dodged.

Leech Trap: One attack will be sent along the floor and capture the enemy, lifting him into the air. HP balls will be ripped from them, leaving them at 1HP—always. Not able to be used as a finished unless target is already at 1HP.

Bottomless Pit: From a distance, he will create a pool under the target and the red and black darkness will arc upward from said pool at four spots around the target to cause damage.

Toxic Shot: Purple energy bullets are fired and home in on the target. Easily dodged, though. Inflicts a poison status ailment.

Cross-bind: A red-and-black darkness X is sent at the target, and will wrap around them if it connects, causing damage.

Note: attacks names are of fan creation as there are no official names, nor even a list of his attacks. All attacks are described as perceived from playing the game and videos.
Inventory: His sword

Prose Sample: Homes are odd. He has no idea why anyone would need a home. What are they even good for? Some shelter? Why does anyone need shelter? But perhaps that’s naiveté. He, after all, doesn’t know the worlds beyond Sora’s dreams. So homes and shelter are entirely foreign concepts to him—probably more suited to Spirits than him. But that isn’t stopping him from poking about this place, this… This… What would he even call it? It’s tiny and it hardly even has anything like in the picture books or dreams Sora has. The Nightmare isn’t even sure what to make of it.

“It’s hardly suited for a den…” he mutters to himself, peering out through a window. It’s not even all that protected! How is one supposed to call this a home—their own shelter—when there are multiple points of entry? It hardly seems conducive for survival! And isn’t that what matters? Well, it does to him. He’d have to fortify all the entrances if he plans on staying here. That’ll take quite a bit of work, time and effort. He’ll have to see if there’s anything else available, anything that will be more protected from the get-go.

“How troublesome…” he groans, rubbing at his temples as he examines the croft further. Is there anything he can do to it right now to fortify it and make it more livable by his standards? It seems not. Bah. He’ll have to work, then, since a cursory glance tells him that other uninhabited crofts have no fortifications at all, much like this one. So he’s on his own and he’s going to have to improvise. There has to be something in this place that he can use to cover the window and make them solid, to harden the door to make it hard to break down…
Journal Sample: [Mirrors. They talk to mirrors and this somehow works for communication. He’s not sure he gets it, or why it’s even necessary. What happened to talking face-to-face? Isn’t that a thing still?]

…How does this even work? I feel ridiculous talking to a mirror, of all things. It’s, what? A piece of glass? Why do you even use this? Shouldn’t I just come and find someone if I want to talk to them?

[He’s growing increasingly frustrated with this. He feels like he’s talking to himself! How incredibly stupid and dull!]

…Is there even a point to this, or am I just talking to myself? …Whatever. It’s not like I care. You guys can go about your meaningless little lives, I’ll just sit here and talk to a chunk of glass.

[And with that, he’ll bitterly tuck it away because really. He feels ridiculous.]
